FAQ.
WHAT IS MICROBLADING?
A procedure I like to call a "mild form of tattoo". Microblading falls in the same category as cosmetic permanent make up. I say "mild form" because unlike traditional body tattooing it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent.

Microblading is done by using a hand held tool with fine needles that create a blade formation. The strokes that are etched into the skin are implemented with pigment to create the illusion of a natural feathery brow.

Microblading can correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrows. It is excellent for those wanting to enhance, reshape, or add density.

I use "nano microblading needles" to create my clients natural soft brows. I love the look of the nano needles because it looks more natural to me than some other microblading you may see around. My technique is a little different than others and I believe that shows in my work. My style of microblading is conservative and natural because I want my clients to be able to have their brows forever and never have it go out of trend or style or feel like they made a mistake.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST? IS IT PERMANENT??
Since microblading is more surface level than a traditional tattoo, the area will naturally fade over time. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years depending on a few variables:
-Skin type (dry or oily)
-Age (youthfull/mature)
-Skincare routine (tanning, anti-aging products)

With that being said, my nano needles are thinner and don't create as much of a wide cut as other needles so I am not implementing as much pigment each session. The Pro- Looks more natural and thin like hair strokes. The Con- Doesn't last as long as other microblading.

To maintain the brows looking "fresh," a touch up session is suggested every 7-12 months. Clients can let the microblading fade over time but please note that slight shadow or pigmented strokes may remain long term.

AM I GOING TO LOOK CRAZY?
At Bladed we use either 0.25mm gauge microblade needles or 18u nano microblade needles depending on brow hair type. I like the thickness of the strokes to mimic the natural hairs around it. So note, the thinner the needles the less "wide" the cut. So, the less noticeable scabbing there will be during the healing process. Also note, the lighter the pigment color the more drastic the color change will be during the healing process as it dries and oxidizes.

It is normal for the strokes to appear wider during the healing process. the stroke will be slightly more feathery and color will fade/lighten about 15% in appearance once healed under the skin. Microblading will appear healed in as little as 2 weeks but the strokes will still continue to be healing for 3 additional weeks.

Overall, to answer the question is in response to my clientele feedback over the years..."The healing process really wasn't that bad!"

HOW DO YOU CHOOSE THE COLOR?
Pigments are chosen to match the natural brow color. If there is very little to no brow hair to begin with skin tone will also be taken into consideration.

WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE LIKE?
Achieving the outcome of crisp and precise strokes depends in part on keeping your eyebrows dry after your session. The longer you wait to wet your eyebrows, the crisper the strokes will heal. All clients are advised to wait at least 10 days before wetting their brows. You're asking yourself "How am I going to wash my face for 10 days? What about showering?" Use common sense when avoiding the brow area just like you would essentially avoid any body tattoo for the approximated time. Also, you want to avoid saunas, pools, jacuzzis, facial steamers, sun exposure, make up on brows, any product on brows, etc.

DOES IT HURT?
My clients generally report experiencing no pain during their session. Prior to each procedure, I apply a strong topical lidocaine cream anesthetic to numb the area and also reapply with a gel anesthetic during the procedure. ***Note: everyone responds differently to anesthetic/lidocaine. If you've experienced lidocaine before and works more effectively with longer numbing time that can be taken into consideration at your consultation/appointment.*** My clients have generally described their experience and/or any discomfort as the feeling of a quick tweezing of an eyebrow hair to not feeling anything, but worst case definitely tolerable.

After the procedure, possible redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area to feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients are welcome to take Tylenol ONLY but no aspirin or ibuprofen.

HOW LONG IS THE PROCEDURE?
Each microblading session is blocked off for 2 hours. The initial session always takes the full 2 hours. During this session, I intensely shape and seek out any adjustments or alterations to my clients natural brows according to their specific face shape and bone structure. Meanwhile, maintaining the most integrity of their natural brow as possible. Once I have my clients approval to continue, I clean up around the brows by waxing and/or tweezing any hairs outside of the microbladed area. I follow by applying the numbing cream for 20-25 minutes. During this time, my clients have the options to watch live tv, catch up on your favorite Netflix addiction, enjoy listening to the low-fi studio music, or you can bring your own headphones and listen to anything else of your choice. Once the numbing time is up I then begin the procedure. Afterwards, we will pre-book your 2nd touch up session at check out. ***Sometimes I finish early in any session but please still allow for the full two hours.***

IS THE TOUCH UP SESSION NECESSARY?
YES YES AND YES! Your 2nd touch up session is most definitely required/necessary. Everyone heals different and every outcome varies. Certain areas may not pick up pigment during the first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color can be adjusted during this session, brow thickness and more detailed strokes can or will be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a 3rd touch up session s the oils tend to lighten/lift pigment easier.

Most importantly, the touch up session is meant for your brow artist to use our best judgement to refine your brows and add detail strokes wherever necessary to ensure it looks naturally beautiful and retains color.

AM I A CANDIDATE?
Everyone and anyone that is looking for "I'm not sure but a little more something" for their brows would be a candidate!

However, there are a few contraindications that microblading would not be suitable for:
-If you currently use Accutane
-Have heart conditions and are taking heart medication
-Have diabetes (a physicians note is required)
-Have a skin disease or irritations
-Have had botox in the last 2 weeks (can be done after 14 days)
-Have gotten chemical/laser/tanning/sunburn in the last month
-Allergies to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, or epinephrine
-Any serious medical conditions may require a physicians note
-If you are pregnant and/or breastfeeding
WHAT ARE THE RISKS?
Bladed takes ALL proper precautions for a safe procedure by using all disposable sterilized needles and supplies. Should clients follow the correct pre and post care instructions, there should be minimal to no risks or complications.

HOW AM I GOING TO KNOW IF I LIKE IT?
As with all cosmetic procedures, individuals should NOT make their choices lightly. At Bladed we always recommend clients do their own research, understand the procedure in FULL with the complementary consult and paperwork provided to take home and read at your pace and own time, and compare different artists' work and portfolio when making their decisions. At Bladed we do our utmost to shape and style the eyebrows naturally to the clients satisfaction prior to the procedure. Every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance, but please realize our faces are never perfectly symmetrical. Uneven appearance can be fixed during the touch up session if any slight adjustments need to be made. Pigment discoloration and color correction can also be fixed during the the touch up session. Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch ups are done. Always be mindful that as a brow technician we can only preform to our upmost ability to ensure you are completely satisfied with your eyebrows but we do not know what precautions or care you are following once you walk out the door.
